About TasWaste South

TasWaste South was established in 2022 by the 12 Southern Tasmanian councils to coordinate the recovery and management of solid waste across the region.

Our role is to foster sustainable use of resources and deliver efficient collection and reprocessing of resources.

We are focused on ensuring less waste goes to landfill through the 3 Rs: reducing waste, reusing as much as we can and increasing recycling.

TasWaste South provides a collective voice for southern councils on the circular economy, resource recovery and waste management. And we manage resource recovery and waste management contracts for the southern councils.

We are also finding ways to recover more resources from waste, partnering with government on waste management and advocating for policy and legislative change.

And we help member councils encourage their communities to take action to reduce waste.
