The products made by Tasmania’s farmers, growers and other primary industry producers are fundamental to our state’s prosperity and its identity. This goes hand-in-hand with the way many producers are utilising waste streams to add value to their business and improve environmental outcomes.
Circular Economy Opportunities in Southern Tasmania’s Primary Industries was commissioned by TasWaste South and produced by NRM South to provide an evidence base for creating even greater value from waste materials.
Across the primary industry’s various sectors, including agriculture, aquaculture and forestry, enthusiasm about circular economy opportunities is high, but so is uncertainty about services, reliability and effective implementation within the day-to-day realities of running a business.
The report demonstrates how improved waste recovery can be achieved through better coordination and collaboration across government and industries.
